Crash cleared, power restored in Fairfield Friday afternoon

Power has been restored to Duke Energy customers in Fairfield following an accident.

Duke Energy updated its outage report Friday afternoon, Jan. 10, however, now 285 customers are without power, but it’s uncertain if it was related to the accident. They are in the Parkland Hills Drive area and the Fairfield Pointe Apartments, and power is expected to be back around 6 p.m.

Power to those impacted by the accident was restored at around 2 p.m. Just after 8 a.m., a single vehicle crashed into a utility pole in the 5300 block of South Gilmore Road.

The accident scene was cleared at 10 a.m., according to Fairfield police, and Duke finished repairing damage as a result of the accident around 2 p.m.

No one was injured in the crash. Duke was on the scene shortly after the incident and the road was temporarily closed so crews could repair the damaged wires and pole.

At one point, close to 1,000 customers in Fairfield were without power.
